Indian Institute of Health and Family Welfare

Hyderabad

The Indian Institute of Health and Family Welfare, Hyderabad, popularly known as IIH&FW, is an autonomous institute under aegis of Department of Health, Medical and Family Welfare, Government of Telangana. What began as a State Institute of Health and Family Welfare under the guidance of NIH&FW, New Delhi in August 1992 with funding from India Population Project – VI (IPP-VI) got rechristened as IIH&FW in the year 1997. IIH&FW is the foremost organization in entire Southern India which was conducting the health related trainings and research. The institute has mentored many other State-run Health Training Institutes viz., Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala to mention a few.

I am glad to inform you that IIH&FW has celebrated 2016-17 as the Silver Jubilee Year and is successfully heading forward with its fruitful existence and noteworthy contributions in the field of Health. With the formation of Telangana as a new State, the Institute has attained an elevated pedestal with multiple interventions and activities in achieving the Vision of a Healthy State. It is a privilege to be at the helm of affairs at this juncture. My aim would be to ensure that the organization upgrades itself to a higher notch in Training and Research activities with the ultimate goal of having an in-house Research & Development wing.

IIHFW is registering discernible contributions to covid-19 prevention and control, primarily through the functions of capacity building, training, awareness generation, content development, monitoring, documentation and translation. IIHFW has disseminated its learning and awareness generation resources to both our state departments and general public.

The institute functions are powered by around 45 employees. There are four regular faculty members from clinical, para-clinical, pre-clinical and non-clinical domains who contribute to their respective areas of interest that cut across the departmental spectrum. I lead the institute’s day-to-day administrative, financial and operational transactions with admirable support from staff.
